And just to be crystal clear, here is the theme for Visualize 2019: DRAMATICALLY ACCELERATE YOUR DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PROCESS To make it easy this year, we’ve created this overview video of all the top new features in SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2019. So watch the video and read up on the detailed breakdown below. Video credit: Andreas Spieler, Michel Cloutier, Solid Solutions Here’s a breakdown of some of the biggest new features in SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2019, helping you get products to market faster: Artificial Intelligence Denoiser Visualize uses artificial intelligence to decipher and eliminate noise from your renders, giving you an instant 10x render speed boost! Integrated Physics Simulator (Professional only) Enable Physics with a few simple clicks and watch your items collide and fall, just like they would in real life. After Physics is set up, use the Shake tool to randomize or jitter the selected elements. This helps to add a natural touch to stacked plates or rearrange pens in a cup, without having to manually move each part individually, saving loads of scene setup time. There’s also saved Simulation States for you to choose which “shake” effect you like best to move to final render. Vehicle Driving Simulator (Professional only) For vehicle designers and engineers, we’ve also added a new Vehicle Driving Simulator to create driving footage or dynamic still shots of vehicles that don’t even exist yet. You can even plug in an Xbox controller and drive your car concept throughout your scene while recording the result for photo-quality driving footage! Video Decals (Professional only)  Import videos or image sequences directly into Visualize Pro, creating vivid animations of products with LED screens, like laptops, consumer electronics, car navigation screens, or airline headsets. Improved Decal Support Now you have much more control over decal mapping and exact positioning, providing a stress-free Decal experience. We’ve also added new Decal Mapping modes directly within Visualize, so you no longer have to use the Multi-Layer workaround to have a Decal wrap around a cylinder – just choose ‘Cylindrical’ from the ‘Decal Mapping Mode’ drop-down. Also, we now have support for all types of Decals coming from SOLIDWORKS CAD! Enhanced Material support (PBR & NVIDIA MDL)  Don’t want to painstakingly create your own custom materials from scratch, but want to use your company’s existing database of materials/textures or those you’ve found via online websites or communities?  We’ve added new advanced Appearance Types to give you greater flexibility and creativity to import industry-standard materials. You can even scan real-world materials and import them via NVIDIA MDL or PBR directly into Visualize. Improved Model Tree Behavior Ability to Copy/Paste parts has been on the list for years! Now it’s possible in Visualize 2019. Also added flexibility and functionality to aid you in reorganizing your Model Tree, which cuts down on unnecessary wasted time. Custom Keyboard Shortcuts Save time by creating your own custom hotkeys, specific to your own preferences – including single-key hotkeys! You can also export your shortcut list to load onto another machine. Automatic Data Recovery  If your Visualize session terminates unexpectedly, you can recover automatically saved data the next time you launch Visualize. You can specify the frequency and folder for saving auto-recovery data. Don’t lose your work because of a crash ever again! BONUS! Export Visualize to NVIDIA Holodeck (Professional only) Open up the floodgates and use Visualize Pro as the authoring tool, to export your projects into NVIDIA Holodeck for immersive design reviews, all in photo-quality Virtual Reality! This is seriously the future of how we design and engineer our world. Check out these video links below to see NVIDIA’s Holodeck in action: Car Design example AEC / Interior Design example

SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE

Entering The World Of Rendering

SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE If for some time I make you blindfolded and then narrate certain specifications of any product or any item, it would be a hard nut to crack without visualization. SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE software offers you to create high-quality realistic images of your model in minutes. The software is having a range of variations in background environments, colors, viewing angles, etc. A customized appearance and textures can be given to the model by adding custom viewing angles and backgrounds in order to obtain a high-resolution rendering in easy mode. A powerful add-on for SolidWorks VISUALIZE that allows you to create photorealistic renderings and animations is Photo View 360. Never ignore RRRs in your 3D & 2D model- Robust Model – When it’s come about the model, always look for a powerful model by its parameters, animations, appearance, and texture. Responsive Model – The model should be quick and time responsive. Photo View 360 allows you to create high-quality images in a few minutes. Rendering Model – The add-on allows you to create life-like realistic images. Below are the five fast rendering key shortcuts that make you fall in love with SOLIDWORKS VISUALIZE  – Even Dolly In/Out motion (Shift + Middle Mouse Button + Mouse Forward / Backwards) – Get a smooth camera in or out the motion by holding shift key simultaneously pressing the middle mouse button and moving the mouse itself forward and backward instead of scrolling. Quick Focal Length Adjustment (Alt + Middle Mouse Button Scroll) You can change the focal length of your camera in seconds simply by holding down the Alt key while scrolling middle button of the mouse. By doing this a change in perspective of the image can be seen according to the lens you have got in your digital camera Spin Environment (Ctrl + Alt + Left Mouse Button Drag) Rotate the environment to meet your needs by holding down the Control and Alt Keys together and drag your Left Mouse Button horizontally in the graphics area to rotate the environment. Camera Look – At (Shift (or Ctrl) + Alt + Right Click) Change the look at point to the selected object by holding Control and Alt together and Right Click on the object which you like to lock on to. Now your camera will look at and rotate about the location you have right clicked on. Copy and Paste Appearances (Shift + Left / Right Click) By holding Shift and Left Clicking on the object that has the desired appearance, you can then Right Click on the object that you wish to have the appearance (still holding the Shift key). If you have a hard time remembering which one is “Copy” and which one is “Paste,” just remember that your Left Click is always the selection tool. Select what you’re after with the Left Click, and then transfer it with the Right Click. There are several more shortcut keys that make ease in creating rendering image Increase environment brightness by 0.25 – (Ctrl+]) Decrease environment brightness by 0.25 – (Ctrl+]) Increase environment gamma by 0.25 – (Ctrl+ ‘) Decrease environment gamma by 0.25 – (Ctrl+ 😉 Flattens floor – (Ctrl + Shift + G) Hides or shows environment – (Ctrl + Shift + E) Hides or shows backplate visibility – (Ctrl + Shift + B) Loads environment image – (Ctrl + E) Loads backplate image – (Ctrl + B) Send rendering to another machine Offloaded rendering lets you send rendering to another machine having Photo View 360 net Render Client. You can use this feature to free up your computer while rendering calculates on other machines. You can do it by the help of two machines one as a Coordinator and the other as a Client. Coordinator The machine has the Solidworks software with PhotoView 360. The coordinator must have a license of SOLIDWORKS Professional or higher and an active subscription service license. Client The machine has the Photo View 360 Net Client. The client does not need a SOLIDWORKS license. Two types of renderings can be performed in Solidworks as per need. Single offloaded rendering Send a single static image to render on the client. For applying this type of rendering goes to the render tools first, a window will be open as shown as below, now apply offload rendering. Scheduled offloaded rendering  Send a single static image to the SOLIDWORKS Task Scheduler to start the task at a later time. For using this type of rendering first click Schedule Render in the Render tools command manager, a dialogue pops up will be open as shown below, apply your data info for the render.

SOLIDWORKS Visualize

Visualize 2018 Beta is Here!

As you prepare for a summer of fun in the sun, there will likely be a rain shower or two…or several depending on where you live. What to do to fill that time? Give SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2018 Beta a try! Do you have SOLIDWORKS CAD but haven’t downloaded your complimentary Visualize Standard* seat yet? Now’s the perfect time to get started and explore Solidworks Visualize 2018 Beta. We’ve added loads of new features to keep you ahead of the curve and ahead of your competition. We’ve also refreshed the user interface and simplified the picks & clicks to make your lives easier. Read on to see a small glimpse of what’s new in Visualize 2018 and helpful links to get started with 2018 Beta today! REFRESHED THE USER INTERFACE DESIGN The biggest, and likely first new feature you will see, is an updated look for Visualize 2018. Our goal was sleek, simple and clean. This new look and feel brings Visualize into the modern era, while making it easier to use at the same time. There’s also a way to switch to between two preset themes, but you’ll have to find that one out for yourself. Gotta leave something for you to explore. CREATE VIRTUAL REALITY CONTENT Have a VR headset and wish you could teleport yourself into your Visualize project? Well wish no more! Visualize 2018 allows you to create ‘Spherical’ cameras which render out a single flattened-spherical image. This image can then be converted to use with any VR headset (even a $15 Google Cardboard!). With this new Spherical camera enabled, you can create proper stereo (left eye, right eye) as well. But the coolest part about this new feature is you can also create animations for VR with this new Spherical camera! Give it a whirl and give us your Beta feedback so we can improve this workflow for our major 2018 release this October. (Visualize Professional only) NEW LIGHTS EVEN EASIER WAY TO PLACE THEM Have you struggled with placing your lights in your scene? Or wanted to move your light to illuminate an exact spot on your model? Or maybe you design interior spaces and want your renders to finish at a fraction of the time? Then this one’s definitely for you. We’ve introduced a new way to instantly place lights in your scene, just by clicking on the model where you want the light to illuminate. This comes with new ‘Area’ light types (sphere, plane, tube, disc) to help recreate any real-world lighting environment. They are much easier to set up and control the lighting of your scene. It’s very similar to the ‘emissive plane lighting technique’ that many of you know very well. Here’s the real kicker…these new Area lights work in Fast mode! Before only Accurate mode supported emissive lighting. This means you can now use Fast mode for your interior scenes! Have fun with this one. (Solidworks Visualize Professional only) There are loads of new features, improvements, and enhancements in Solidworks Visualize 2018 Beta…too many to list here. Experience the awesomeness for yourself right now!
